There are many tourist destinations in Kalimantan, one of which being Kotabaru. It is the capital city of Kotabaru district in South Kalimantan province. The city is located on a small island in the province.
There are many places of interest in Kotabaru. If you start from its seaport, go by ferry to a tourist object called Tanjung Serdang (Cape Serdang). The trip to the cape takes about 20 minutes. A trip from Banjarmasin (the capital city of South Kalimantan) to Kotabaru takes around 9 hours by public transport or bus. You can go by bus or mini-bus. Malino is one of the most famous and popular tourist objects found in South Sulawesi province. It is in the highland area with an altitude of 1.5 kilometers above sea level and is situated in Gowa district, or about 90 kilometers from Makassar (the capital city of South Sulawesi).

Besides, there is a variety of flora including pines, acacia, banyan tress, eucalyptus, edelweiss flowers, rattan trees, and several types of clumps. The very special thing you can see in Malino is its passion fruit plantations. The fruit has truly special taste, a fit blend of sweet and sour. In local markets, you can directly enjoy the ripe fruit fresh or buy the processed form such as syrup and jelly. To spend the night in Malino, there are lodging and hotels facilities available, complete with restaurants, sports facilities, and entertainment.
Malino can be reached by public transport or rental car. It takes about 2.5 hours to get to Malino from Makassar. You can rent a car that costs between Rp 300,000 and Rp 400,000 for 24 hours.
Parangtritis Beach is a tourist object located in Bantul district, Yogyakarta. From Yogakarta’s Umbulharjo terminal, you can take a bus to the beach. There are two route alternatives that you can choose. Alternative 1: Yogyakarta – Imogiri – Siluk – Parangtritis. The distance is about 30 kilometers. By taking this route, you can see a cemetery of royal people. One attraction of this route is that it enables you to enjoy the beautiful view along the route, where there are many limestone hills with their unique shapes. Alternative 2: Yogyakarta – Kretek – Parangtritis. All kinds of transports take this route because it is an easy access to the beach.
Parangtritis is famous for its very beautiful beach where you can see a sand hill meets a stone cliff. You can relax along the beach while admiring its beauty and romantic atmosphere. You can certainly go swimming at the beach but you have to be careful not to go too far from the beach line because you can get caught in the sea water current and the nasty coral reefs there. Other than swimming in the sea, you can also enjoy one of the swimming pools that are available for the tourists in the area. Besides that, you can go around the beach by using a horse-driven cart called “andong” costing Rp 20,000 for one short trip. In the late afternoon, you can see and enjoy the beautiful view of the sunset. To many people, Parangtritis beach gives a kind of scary and mystical impression, but all that impression cannot hide the real beauty of the beach. At night time, you can enjoy eating various kinds of food sold along the beach by the local people.
To enter the beach location you just need to pay Rp 3,300. Hotels and inns near the parangtritis beach are well available and not very expensive. For a relatively good convenient room in a hotel or inn, the rate per night ranges from Rp 30,000 to 100,000.
Sukabumi is a district and city in West Java province. About 120 kilometers from the city lies an interesting tourist object called Ujung Genteng. Its beach is still very clean and natural, and it has a unique attraction for tourists to visit it.
In some parts of the Ujung Genteng beach there are some areas which are very good to play around and relax underwater. This is because the water is not deep, even when it is during high tide. Besides, there are no big waves. To the east of Ujung Genteng, there is a place used as a fish market. The market is always busy between 5 and 9 am. Fish are sold at lower prices and they are fresh from the sea, caught by the local fishermen. Part of Ujung Genteng is a place called Pangumbahan. It is a unique place for tourists to visit because you can see many sea turtles laying eggs at the beach. They are the green turtles from the sea that can live more than 100 years and grow to be as heavy as 200 kilograms and as long as 1 meter. Each green turtle can lay up to 200 eggs.
Fifteen kilometers from Pangumbahan is a place called Ombak Tujuh (the Seven Waves). This is a good place for tourists to surf. Muara Cipanarikan is another interesting place to visit at Ujung Genteng. It is the place where Cipanarikan river meets the sea. The meeting spot turns into an interesting area of sand. The area is wide and of fine sand, perfect for children to play and make sand castles. Last but not least is a part of Ujung Genteng beach called Cibuaya that is good for swimming and relaxing underwater. Rates of inn and hotel rooms at Ujung Genteng vary from Rp 75,000 to Rp 350,000.
In East Java province, there is Mount Bromo (Gunung Bromo), one of the active volcanoes in the province and that has become a famous tourist object. The mountain is 2,392 meters above sea level. It lies in four regions or districts: Malang, Lumajang, Pasuruan, and Probolinggo. The mountain has a ‘sea of sand’, that is a 10-square- kilometer-wide area of sand.
Mount Bromo (gunung bromo) is famous for its extremely beautiful natural mountainous landscape and view. The mount has a crater with a diameter of 800 meters (from north to south) and 600 meters (from east to west), while its danger area around the crater is within the radius of two kilometers. In order to go up Mount Bromo (gunung bromo) from Malang city, you have to rent a car and its driver. During the trip you will go through narrow and winding roads with cliffs on their sides. Therefore, make sure that you hire an experienced and reliable driver. From Malang, it takes around two hours to get to Mount Bromo. On the mountain location you can also rent a 4-wheel-drive hardtop Jeep that costs you about Rp 260,000. To get into the mountain area you must pay Rp 4,500 per person.
To enjoy the sunrise view and the cold weather of the mountain, you have to get up as early as 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning. Bunaken island has a tourist object called Bunaken Marine Park that is part of the Bunaken National Park (BNP). This BNP was officially opened by the government in October 1991, twenty years after the island’s beauty was discovered by three men who eventually initiated the BNP diving business there. It is not difficult to get to this marine park. From Manado’s Marina harbor, you can charter a boat for Rp 750,000. The boat capacity is for 15 passengers. From the boat you can look down to the sea and enjoy the beautiful view of the marine park that looks like a huge aquarium.
Besides Bunaken island, BNP has four other islands. They are Siladen, Mantehage, Manado Tua, and Nain islands. Each island has its own beach and diving and snorkeling location. Bunaken’s underwater view is magnificently beautiful. When scuba-diving, you can see many people scuba-dive here and there underwater, enjoying the beauty of the underwater view. Under and through the clear sea water you can see so many fish and coral reefs. There are 20 different diving spots at Bunaken National Park with various depths, one of which is 1,344 meters deep. Twelve of the twenty spots are found at Bunaken island, which are often visited by tourists who come to dive, snorkel, jet-ski, and enjoy its beautiful underwater view.
